Local Organizations Give to Utica University’s Tangerine Group Food Pantry
The program is dedicated to addressing the rising issue of student food insecurity on college campuses by supporting and serving all students while eradicating the associated stigma.
The Tangerine Grove recently received a $5,000 gift from The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties as well as a $300 gift from the Genesis Group.
Tangerine Grove is an on-campus food pantry that provides judgement-free access to food, hygiene, and other resources to students in need, whether due to financial hardship, emergency food shortage or other personal circumstance.
The program is dedicated to addressing the rising issue of student food insecurity on college campuses by supporting and serving all students while eradicating the associated stigma. Making sure pantry shelves remain stocked is a collaborative effort bolstered significantly by funding through grants and corporate and private philanthropy.
The gift from the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties was made possible by funds from the Utica National Group Foundation, M&T Bank, the Mele Family Fund, and the Ronald and Sheila Cuccaro Family Fund.
The Genesis Group donation was funded through proceeds from a raffle held during the organization’s November 20 Celebration of Education to support area food pantries.
